Shaun and I have decided to do one of the most awesome/irresponsible choices of our life.

In May (hopefully), we will be leaving the states for a few months while we wander Central/South America. Hostel hopping, bus traveling, yummy food gobbling experience.

My mom has a friend who spends a month in Peru every year. I’m hoping we can meet up with her so she can give a few suggestions on what to check out in Peru besides Machu Picchu.

Of course, our main focus right now is Egypt in November. We haven’t really booked anything yet – basically Shaun’s motorcycle = our trip. Its up to him to get it ready to sell so we can make the plans final.

I am so excited. I really need to do this. My soul is asking for it.

And yes, for all you impatient people – after that we will figure out when Shaun and I will have kids. We’ll see. I need to experience the world before we bring another person into it.

Joe invited us out the other day to this really awesome gelatto bar called Dolce Vita. It was awesome and quaint and had really awesome gelatto based cocktails.

The goal: COUPLE’S TRIVIAL PURSUIT – GENIUS EDITION IV

Good god those questions were hard and surprisingly, Shaun and I did really well. Its a shame that out of all the questions we got right, hardly any were while we were on a pie slice. Lame.

One of my favorite experiences of last night was when Joe and Jamie landed on the Sports and Leisure pie piece spot. Not a single person in our group of 4 watches or enjoys sports. This was going to be a long night.

Me: The Question is: What football team won the most games in the 1970s?

Jamie: Joe! Think CLEATS! Not parfaits!

And somehow this sad little cheer had him guess the answer… the Dallas Cowboys.

All in all it was a good night. :)

Today is 7/8/9!

Was waiting around the house for coworkers to call to head out to Hamilton’s Pool… enough waiting and we headed out on our own.

The hike in wasn’t bad (although my knee is a little mad at me) and the water felt fantastic. We actually didn’t stay long – next time we plan on making it a day trip with a cooler included.

Worth the drive, in my opinion.

May head out to Hamilton’s Pool tomorrow. Thinking of taking my camera to grab some awesome shots while out. :)

Shaun fixed the car today. I am so glad my hubby knows how to do stuff like that. Dealership wanted to charge us $400 for a plastic radiator (can get an aluminum one at THAT price) but Shaun went to the place his old work used to get radiators from, Four Seasons, and got us one for $189.

Now we can return Brent’s car tomorrow. :)

TGIF…. even though its Monday for most of you folks. I think I’m going to spend at least a few hours by the pool in a faux Happy Hour. I know one of the days I’m going to waste throwing myself an awesome pity party with food and booze – lookin’ forward to it. I’m currently unsure how I will PAY for said party, but damn it. I NEED IT.

Fourth of July was kinda what took me over the edge. I know everyone was broke this year- but besides a quick “what are you doing for the 4th?” from my sister, NO ONE invited me over, to hang out, watch movies, watch paint dry. I did have a beer with my bestfriend John when I went over to the old house (lease is not up until July). He helps make my days so much better.

I quickly noticed when I got home that night that I have been repressing some major issues that I need to work out somehow and I’m really not sure how to accomplish it.

  1. My self esteem/self worth is practically non-existent. I guess I must be a really good actress.
  2. I still have alot of issues with my mom – past, present, future?
  3. I hate where my life is right now. The economy sucks and there is no opportunity for people like me to use my degree or even search for a better paying job that makes me feel like I have self worth in the community. I’m sorry, but answering emails all day is hardly soul-fulfilling.
  4. I wish I could go to school again. I hate being stagnant and I love to learn but being as I’m poor and already have college loans coming out my ass, its not going to happen.
  5. I’m poor and work for crap wages.  ‘Nuff said.

I think what really brought the house down was all the rediculous things happening in my life – from my sister-in-law being falsely arrested t0 our car’s radiator hose blowing off while driving to work on the 4th of July… all within a month. Seriously?

On the positive side:

I have decided that David Beckham is some fine man-meat. He has made my very small list of uber sexy men. 1 of 4:

Orlando Bloom

Adrien Brody (don’t ask- he just is)

Brad Pitt

and David Beckham. Yum.

So sue me. I become a 14 year old girl sometimes.

Shaun and I woke up this morning like any other morning, took a shower, made breakfast and our lunches and head out to work at 7:20am or so.

Being that its not only a weekend, but a holiday weekend, MoPac was like a virtual ghost town. It was a beautiful morning with an almost perfect cool breeze. As we were heading towards the Koenig exit, Shaun looked down and noticed the temperature on the WRX was maxed out on HOT. In a panic Shaun shuts off the car and we coast into a church parking lot.

Shaun hops out of the car and notices there is steam coming out from under the hood and he opens it. To our “surprise” the radiator hose had popped off and spilled all the coolant and water all over the engine. Great.

Thank goodness Joe was there to help. I can always depend on him and he lived like 5 minutes away from where we lived. He brought us provisions of 2 gallons of water and a screwdriver to put the hose back on.

The previous owner of the car had told us that this had happened before and that he had taken it in to get it fixed. What he didn’t tell us was that when it happened the first time, it had completely demolished/crumbled the first lip of the radiator attachment that the hose fits on. There is really NOTHING for the hose to grab onto except for whatever pressure the clamps provide.

Awesome. So not only do we need a new hose, but we need a new radiator for the most retarded of reasons.

Being that today is 4th of July… this has caused quite a ruckus for us. We drove all the way home going 30 miles an hour down Lamar (even hit an O’Reilly’s for a new hose). Took us damn near an hour…. then came the hunt for an extremely rare radiator that no aftermarket place really makes. *By the way, all dealership parts stores are closed today.*

It seems like the older I get, the people around me have lost all joy for holidays. I swear if I’m not the one throwing the party, people will ignore important cultural rituals (i.e. 4th of July).

I’m not throwing a party this year. Our living situation really doesn’t permit it. Nobody I know is throwing a true 4th of July shindig with fireworks, beer, watermelon, and BBQ. I have no plans for tomorrow because no one is doing anything. Its really freaking me out. Its like a midsummer celebration!

Bah. I’m always putting together the get togethers. Why can’t someone else do the job for once?

This kid knows how to party.

Quick update:

Personal training started today (again)-
I’ve lost .8 lbs since the last time I had a training session and 1% body fat.

I’ve lost a grand total of 27 lbs in 1 1/2 years. 3-4 more weeks and I should be down to 130 in which the other training will start… getting rid of the fat and turning it into muscle while simultaneously staying at 130 lbs. Woo.

I think I have been the most broke I have been since I left college lol. Good thing we have SOME food to tie us over till we get paid on Friday but quite literally, we have $20 in our bank account.

Last month for rent in our old place! This next year will be good for Shaun an I as we pay off debt and figure out what we want to do with our lives (assuming the Mayan Calendar is not correct and everything will be downhill in 2 years anyways). The weird thing is that I actually have to start packing. I’m really just considering selling almost everything in a garage sale. Shaun has more days off than I do and will be able to handle that more easily than I will. Selling a hall table, couch, bookshelf, various knicknacks and most of our crappy pots and pans. I’m ready for new things that are not hand me downs.

Depending on how the economy and our jobs go we may be looking for a house in Kyle or Manor. We’ll see. I’m kinda set on an older house with a small porch. I wonder what my actual choices will be.

On a side note of all my complaining, we were approved to go to BlizzCon so our hotel and plane tickets are now taken care of. All we need to do is show up. How exciting!

We were planning on heading out to Hamilton Pool tomorrow (never been) but after a peek at our checking account, I think we’re just going to head up to Kris and Dustin’s for some free swimming at an apartment pool. The fact we actually have 3 days off and no money to do anything is just killing me lol. But whatev, I have a new computer and we have the opportunity to go to BlizzCon. I am in no spot to be complaining.

Heading to my first personal training session tomorrow in a few weeks. I’m already dying from lifting weights last night. I can only imagine how terrible this will be.

And for today, in honor of the rain that hit us today, I thought I would post a joyous rain picture (because we had thunder so loud this morning it shook the house and woke us up… it was AWESOME).

“Texas Thunderstorm”
